The Best Pilates Studio in Willoughby? Here's Why Locals Keep Coming Back to Love Pilates
If you've been searching for a Pilates studio in Willoughby, you've probably noticed that the options can feel overwhelming. Do you go for a big chain gym with a pilates class tucked into the schedule, or a boutique studio where pilates is the whole point? For anyone serious about getting real results — whether that's building strength, exercising safely through pregnancy and postpartum, recovering from injury, improving posture, or just moving better in everyday life — the difference matters enormously.
The answer locals keep landing on is Love Pilates. Here's why.
What Makes a Great Pilates Studio?
Before we get into Love Pilates specifically, it's worth knowing what to look for. A genuinely great pilates studio isn't just about having shiny reformer machines (though quality equipment matters). The real markers are:
Qualified, experienced instructors. Pilates done well requires an instructor who understands anatomy, can read a body, and knows how to modify an exercise safely. The difference between a qualified pilates teacher and someone who's done a weekend certification is significant.
Small class sizes. You can't get proper instruction in a room of 20 people. Good studios keep classes small — typically 6 to 14 — so the instructor can actually watch what you're doing and correct your form.
A genuine community feel. The best studios are places where you want to show up, even on the mornings when motivation is low. Your classmates are one of the reasons you keep coming back! That comes from the culture the studio creates.
A range of options for different bodies and goals. Whether you're a complete beginner, pregnant or post-natal, managing a back injury, or a fit and active person looking to challenge yourself, a great studio meets you where you are.
Quality equipment. Let’s get back to the equipment….. Our reformers are made locally and are super quiet and have a longer track run than your average reformer - so are great for taller clients.
Love Pilates ticks every one of these boxes.

What's on offer
Love Pilates runs a full timetable of reformer pilates classes alongside tower classes, pregnancy & postnatal classes and strength classes, designed to suit everything from absolute beginners to seasoned movers. Some of the most popular options include:
Reformer Pilates — the signature class, using the Pilates reformer machine to challenge your whole body and especially your core
Pregnancy & Postnatal Reformer — specifically for our pregnant and new mums. Classes are a great way to connect with other local mums and we have classes you can bring your baby to (and a full set of Baby Bjorn bouncers in the studio you can use.
Love Strong — our strength class where we use progressive overload techniques to really develop your strength. This class is specifically designed for our clients who know they should “lift heavy” but don’t want to go to the gym and uses strength training principles.
Private sessions — one-on-one instruction tailored entirely to your body, your goals, and any injuries or limitations you're working around
New to pilates? The team at Love Pilates are used to beginners and genuinely enjoy helping people discover what their bodies can do. That’s why we have fundamentals classes - so that you’ve got the time to gain confidence, develop technique and get stronger. There's no intimidating vibe — just supportive, knowledgeable instruction in a studio that feels like a community.
Who Is Love Pilates For?
Honestly? Almost everyone. But here are some of the people who tend to thrive at Love Pilates:
Beginners who've been curious about Pilates but don't know where to start. The instructors here are patient, clear, and excellent at making you feel capable.
People recovering from injury or managing ongoing issues like back pain, hip tightness, or post-surgical recovery. Pilates, done well, is one of the most effective forms of rehabilitation movement available. The instructors at Love Pilates understand how to work safely around injuries and with the guidance of your physio or specialist.
Busy women on the North Shore who want a workout that actually does something — not just “feeling the burn”, but real functional strength, better posture, mobility and a body that feels good to live in.
Mums — both pre and post-natal — looking for movement that supports rather than strains their changing bodies. But also mums of bigger kids wanting a flexible timetable that can work around their ever changing weeks!
Anyone who's tried Pilates before and didn't love it — often because the class was too big, the instructor wasn't attentive, or the experience just felt generic. Love Pilates is different, and many clients say it's the first time they've truly understood what Pilates is supposed to feel like.
What Clients Say
“Love Pilates, led by the amazing Libby, has truly changed my Pilates journey for the better. All the instructors are so professional, caring and absolute experts in their field. They all genuinely care and make every session challenging...and fun! I always feel inspired and supported and so look forward to every single class.
There is also such a wonderfully warm and welcoming community feel. From day one, I've felt welcome and included - there's a real sense of belonging at the studio which is a huge credit to Libby and all the team.
I also really appreciate the variety of classes and times offered.
I just wish I'd found Love Pilates earlier....the progress I've made in six months is better than I achieved in years elsewhere!
Thank you so much Libby, Leah, Grainne and all the team!”Piret G (via Google reviews)
“I moved to the area when pregnant with our second and am so glad I came across Love Pilates. There’s always a lot of focus on foetus health, and usually means that mum to be’s are deprioritised. Love Pilates focus on our health and fitness and I’ve met so many other lovely people in the process and I’ve loved going there for the last 6+ months. The studio is small and personalised, the team is highly trained and experienced and I’ve observed how great they are with babies too. I had a huge moment of delight recently when returning and Libby and her team had organised a return to Pilates care package (which, when everyone’s been focused on the baby, it’s nice for someone to be thinking of us!). I personally love Libby and Alexis’s classes, but they’re all fabulous. I won’t be going back to the gym (with their huge Pilates classes), will be sticking to Love Pilates for the long haul. Thanks team!”
